THE GRAND HIGH WITCH

In Roald Dahl’s 1983 book The Witches, the Grand High Witch is the ancient leader of a coven that hides her hideous appearance behind a beautiful disguise. The GHW hates children; they smell putrid to all witches, so being childfree is non-negotiable. She is a girl boss in charge of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and a woman in S.T.E.M. leading the charge on child-to-mouse technology, so a partner would need to support and admire her ambition. She can put on a pretty face, but a lover would need to want her decrepit or gorgeous.
